Demon Copperhead is the story of a kid born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with little assets other than his dead father’s fine features and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a tremendous ability for survival. Demon braves the modern horrors of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic achievement, addiction, tragic loves, and shattering losses, as told in his own unflinching perspective. Throughout it all, he grapples with his own invisibility in a popular culture in which even superheroes have abandoned rural people in favor of metropolis.
